ABOUT
Jürg Dähler, born in Zurich, has been closely connected with fine antique musical instruments since childhood. Thanks to more than four decades of comprehensive studies of the great Italian masters and French bow makers, he is now considered one of the leading experts in this field. His deep understanding of violin making, knowledge of the latest restoration techniques, and extensive experience in the instrument trade enable him to competently advise and assist clients worldwide.
Currently, he works as a consultant for several renowned private collections and institutions in Switzerland, Europe, Asia, the United States, and Australia. He has also supported various new projects aimed at providing suitable string instruments to young talented musicians.
As a sought-after soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue, Jürg Dähler regularly performs on instruments by Guarneri Del Gesù and Antonio Stradivari. His viola was crafted by Raffaele Fiorini in Bologna in 1893. Alongside his multifaceted artistic and educational career, he completed a degree in Arts Administration at the University of Zurich in 2007, graduating summa cum laude. Since 1999, he has been part of the artistic and executive leadership of the Swiss Chamber Concerts and, since 2015, has served as the Managing Director of the Pfingstfestival Schloss Brunegg.
He has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Swiss Music Prize in 2020 for his many contributions to the cultural life of Switzerland.
